David Harbour Revealed if He Thinks He's 'A Jerk' Amid Lily Allen & Millie Bobby Brown Allegations
Does David Harbour think he has “become a jerk”? He says no, but the internet might say otherwise.
Harbour has stayed silent after ex-wife Lily Allen sang about an open marriage gone wrong, butt plugs, and infidelity on her new album, West End Girl. He has even maintained his silence amid reports that Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown filed a bullying and harassment claim against him ahead of filming their fifth and final season together.
However, as the premiere of Stranger Things season 5 rapidly approaches, the actor’s press tour is beginning, and the timing is awful.
In a November 4 interview with Esquire Spain, which was presumably conducted by Allen introduced the world to Harbour’s alleged mistress Madeline, the 50-year-old actor was asked if it’s been easier to avoid becoming “a jerk” after finding fame later in life.
“For me it certainly is,” Harbour said, a quote that hasn’t aged well as Allen and Brown’s fans turn against him online. “I think the traps of youth are so bound up with the idea of self-importance, the traps of fame are so bound up with self-importance. The great thing about getting famous when you’re older is that you know you’re going to die, so who cares?”
In another poorly-timed moment, Harbour was asked about working with the young stars of the show, whom he called “pretty good kids.” He added, “I’m always here to help them out, but they’re on their own path. It’s a wild path, but they all seem to be doing great.”
The statement comes days after the Daily Mail reported that Brown filed a bullying and harassment claim against Harbour, who plays her father figure on the show. The claim, which was filed before the cast started filming the upcoming season, is said to have included “pages and pages of accusations” and led to a several months-long investigation, the result of which remains unknown.
Elsewhere in the interview, Harbour was asked about regrets from his past 50 years. “I would change either everything or nothing,” Harbour, who ended his relationship with Allen in December 2024 after four years of marriage, said. “You either accept your path completely and realise that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and that there’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that.”
