Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban's Divorce Might Not Have Been Triggered by 'Any Explosive Wrongdoing,' Sources Say

When Nicole Kidman filed for divorce from Keith Urban on September 30, there were reports of an alleged affair on the country singer’s part. Now, that story might not be true.

It seems that Kidman’s pals are backing away from that narrative, according to a RadarOnline report. “This was not triggered by any explosive wrongdoing,” a source claimed. “After years of juggling intense professional demands, they gradually realized their paths were no longer aligned.”

It was TMZ that shared the affair allegations on the day the Australian actress filed the divorce papers. The outlet reported that they spoke to “multiple sources” who claimed “all the signs point to the fact that Keith is with another woman. Let’s just say, Nicole doesn’t dispute that, but she’s still shocked over it.” The infidelity news was “all over Nashville.”

There were three women who were identified as possible his possible mistresses, including 25-year-old guitarist Maggie Baugh, 24-year-old country singer Alana Springsteen, and 25-year-old actress Karley Scott Collins. There was never any confirmation of the rumors, and Baugh’s friend, Alexandra Kay, debunked the affair story.

“Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say … They’re like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh, and I’m like, ‘She’s a good friend of mine, and I know that’s absolutely not true,’” Kay said on the Taste of Country Nights podcast on October 22.

Kay continued, “I’ve met her boyfriend, and she’s very happy, and she has nothing to do with that whole relationship [with Urban]. I feel sad for everybody involved that people are doing that and picking apart their personal life. I pray for peace for them and for everybody to have their privacy.”

Kidman and Urban’s split took everyone by surprise, and without an affair narrative, fans are left scratching their heads as to what went wrong in their marriage. But the writing might have been on the wall when Urban sniped at a reporter for The Times in September 2024 when he was asked about his wife.

“I just don’t want to give you guys a headline about my wife, Ed,” Urban said. It was clear the 58-year-old country star wanted to talk about himself, not Kidman, during the interview.

He continued, “We’ve had the best conversation about my career and my music, and I love that at the very end of this conversation, you’re going to give one more swing to see if I’ll talk about my wife. I’m not going to talk about her.”

That might have been the beginning of the end for Kidman and Urban.
