Malia Obama’s First Outing in 2026 Shows Which of Her Parents Influenced Her Iconic & Edgy Street Style
Former US President and First Lady, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s kids are doing their own things; working and going for an education, and making their names known in the street style world. Their daughters, Malia Obama and Sasha Obama, have such unique styles, and Malia’s newest outing has fans wondering which parent has influenced her personal style.
In photos obtained by DailyMail in Jan 13, we can see Malia looking like the coolest gal as she rocks an edgy, cool-girl casual look while out and about in Los Angeles.
In the pics, we see Malia rocking a casual look composed of black, high-waisted jeans, a white tank, along with a yellow and orange striped sweater around her chest, black leather clogs, and a maroon bag. The mix of simple staples and funky colors is peak street style.
While her mom, Michelle, is no stranger to funky patterns, and her father is no stranger to color basics, the combination of the two (and the added edge) proves Malia is inspired by her own style instead of her parents’.
For those who don’t know, Michelle Obama and former US President Barack Obama have two children together. After getting married in 1992, Michelle and Barack welcomed two daughters through IVF named Malia Ann, born on July 4, 1998, and Natasha (better known as Sasha), born on June 10, 2001.
While Sasha hasn’t publicly discussed her fashion sense, Malia did so briefly in 2024. During a rare outing at the opening ceremony of the 50th Deauville American Film Festival on Sept 6, 2024, she talked about the event and her Vivienne Westwood look and how, surprisingly, she doesn’t know much about fashion.
She said in a TikTok with Paris Match, “[It’s] Vivienne Westwood. Queen! It’s cool. I don’t know as much about fashion, but I’m happy to be wearing it.”
