Tom Cruise Reportedly ‘Sweet on’ Top Gun Co-Star After ‘Cruel’ Ana de Armas Breakup—’A Lot of People Think They’d Make a Great Couple’
Tom Cruise is on the market after his failed romance with Ana de Armas, and one of his former co-stars reportedly wants to reconnect with him.
Sources close to romcom queen Meg Ryan say that the actress would be open to dating her Top Gun co-star, and that she “would jump at the chance to work with Tom again.” A source told the National Enquirer, “She’s a huge fan of his and always assumed they’d do another project together at some point.”
The two haven’t been starring in films together after the hit 80s movie, but friends of the A-listers are rooting for them to date. “A lot of people in their worlds think they’d make a great couple. The respect and admiration is there, and Meg is definitely sweet on Tom and vice versa,” the source continued. “It’s a no-brainer.”
“Both of them have had some serious bad luck, romance-wise,” the source said. “If one of them would pick up the phone and make the first move, though, Tom and Meg might finally find what they’re looking for in each other.”

Meg Ryan has been single since 2019 after being in an on-and-off relationship with singer-songwriter John Mellencamp from 2010 to 2019. On the other hand, Tom Cruise recently ended things with actress Ana de Armas in October 2025.
The Mission: Impossible star was in an eight-month relationship with the Knives Out actress after pursuing and courting her. However, the relationship reportedly didn’t work out because of work boundaries.
“They ended up realizing that they should keep it professional because they weren’t able to figure it out as a couple and they wanted to save the future of their friendship and their movie,” a source told the Daily Mail. While the gossip site said that there was “no pettiness” from either party, recent reports allege that there are hard feelings in Tom’s camp with sources saying that he’s ‘dishing out” the “cruel explanation” of their breakup.
“Tom’s spinning things to make it sound like he ended it – saying Ana didn’t live up to what he wanted,” a source told RadarOnline. “But people close to him know that’s just ego. It’s also juvenile. Really, he’s hurting. She was the one who stepped back, and it’s shaken him badly.”
“He truly believed Ana was his perfect match,” said another source close to the actor. “He spoke about her like she was meant for him. Now he’s changing the story to protect his pride.”
They continued, “One day he insists it’s her loss, the next he’s wondering if he’ll ever meet someone who really gets him. He’s uneasy, isolated, and overthinking everything.” Whether that certain someone is Meg Ryan, only time can tell.
