If you want to go somewhere to boo and complain once a week, there's a place I know in B6 that will happily accommodate you.
Anyone who's played football knows that when you don't have a good central midfield, it puts immense pressure on the rest of the team. The ball keeps coming back and you just can't get a foothold; there's no spine. It makes every player on the pitch look worse, and the less technical players struggle the most.
It's one position that can make or break a team. A lot of the positions on the pitch at the moment are filled with better players than we had at Bristol City last May, but without ball retention in midfield, it renders all of them ineffective.
It must be so demoralising to not be able to build up any momentum whatsoever in games; you can see that frustration so clearly in the players.
Our problems are not universal, they are very simple, and we have a few days to try and fix them. A couple of technical players in the middle could make all the difference.
If we don't sign anyone of that ilk, then we can start to be concerned.
Until then, let's keep our chins up, see it for what it is, and remember that we are NOT those bedsheet scrawling, history dwelling, grandeur obsessing whiners we have the misfortune to call our neighbours.
