New show on Netflix - Manhunt: Unabomber


Great great show...

Ted is a stupidly clever child so his parents boost him up a load of school years, he finds he is still the smartest in the class despite being 4 years younger. One person he made friends with and then this guy gets a girlfriend and attacks Ted when Ted walks in on them in a woods.

He got sent to Harvard University 3 years early. There he idolised a professor who he likened to a "Greek God", the professor told him he was special and he wanted to converse regularly with him for guidance.

It turned out the Professor was part of the CIA M K Ultra programme to break down and brainwash Soviet spies, they tested it initially on these kids that they deemed the most vulnerable.

This professor tore down his sense of family, sense of any free thinking, sense of privilage, sense of personality and any sense of bwlinging anywhere through 2 years of sessions and destroyed this kids brain until it was something to mould in any way. The other subjects were 18-20 but this guy was still a 15 year old child.

He struggled to get a job and form relationships following this, he liked one girl and she would take his gifts but she then rejected him so he graffitied her car. His own brother fired him for it, so he cut off civilization because he couldnt cope.

He found peace in nature, until indutrial action destroyed the area around his reclusive cabin and so he got back at civilisation by bombing them.

Its so interesting and heartbreaking at the same time how thia type of behaviour is moulded by people taking advantage.
