Most of Birmingham has been part of Birmingham for less than 100 years. Birmingham is an artificial political creation, but the Brummie identity in terms of regional culture, accent, football club affiliation etc is a real thing.
If Silhilians think they're different to Brummies just because of council boundaries arbitrarily decided by ivory tower politicians, more fool to them.
