Re: Which manager could get us promoted this season?
Super HansIanT has said it multiple times but people have rose tinted glasses on when it comes to Davies. I loved him last season but there's no point comparing to last season as the step up is absolutely massive, something I'm guilty of underestimating.
Cashin and Robinson aren't good enough for where we want to be but neither is Davies.
I agree last season was great but isn’t a comparison to this season. I do however think that Davies is a great young coach and he is currently doing some learning (like all coaches do). In my opinion he has to be given a minimum of 15-20 more games. If after 25 games of the season nothing has been changed and no problems addressed you can confidently say he’s been given a fair shot at it and it may be time for someone else.
But right now? We’re doing ok, there are some frustrations and seeming naivety, but he has a lot of credit in the bank. Let him have time to prove himself until he proves he isn’t right. Like I say 25 games is fair, 8 games is not.
Ben Davies also was decent in the championship and has over 150 games at this level. He also literally fitted into our defence both from a practicality point but also in terms of relationships.
Not signing him was stupid and now looks even worse with Cashin and Robinson. Cashin who had never really done anything at Championship level but bought by Brighton as a prospect. Robinson who was good but frankly is over the hill.
