Sports Quarter - Memorial Garden

At the open house the other night there was mention of the existing ‘remembrance bricks’, the plaque tribute to the victims of the pub bombings, and possibly other memorial plaques at St Andrews. As we know there is a desire to both keep these important pieces prominent, and also an intention to incorporate green spaces into the SQ, then surely a purpose designed memorial garden would be a good move.

Maybe it could include an Arlington- style memorial wall of family and friends, perhaps using the current bricks, a place where the plaques would be prominent, and maybe a memorial to players and managers who we have lost.

Now I’m certain someone will be along to say that it would be trashed within weeks, but I think Knighthead will have the security and cleanliness of the Sports Quarter as a big priority. So I see a place of peace for people to visit and reflect on those who we have lost.
