Birmingham hospital radio (BHBN) - an appeal. (no replies)
I have been involved with Birmingham's hospital radio station (BHBN) for the best part of 20 years now. We are a registered charity (514775).
I'm head of their sports team, and we broadcast live games from Blues, the Baggies, Wolves and even Villa(!). We also have a YouTube channel, where we post highlights from games we have covered, and a Monday roundup show talking about the weekend's games.
We broadcast to hospital patients, some local care homes and also online via an app. With more people living alone these days, there are naturally more people who are alone when they are in hospital, and we provide a friendly voice and some company. We also provide valuable opportunities for people who want to learn about the media, and the guys in my team range from IT network engineers to students.
But we have a problem! We have recently lost our main source of funding, and are in the process of trying to keep ourselves afloat. We have raised our membership fees, started a GoFundMe and various of our members are pitching in with their own fundraising efforts.
We need around £1K a month to keep us afloat, and this covers broadcasting licences, broadband costs, utility bills and replacing/updating kit. *Everybody* at BHBN is a volunteer, and nobody takes a penny in expenses/costs.
Can you help? Or do you know anyone who can help? We are looking for donations from individuals and businesses, and businesses can claim tax back on charity donations. In addition, we are looking for businesses who want to sponsor our shows.
