French Police protest against protestors Stereotyping police as racists and officials attacking them politically.

Police in several cities in France have laid down their handcuffs, while one union leader urged officers to stop making arrests in protest against the interior minister’s recent push to suspend any officer accused of misconduct, the local.fr reported.

In cities across France on Thursday police threw down their handcuffs to show their anger over the chokehold ban, announced by French interior minister Christophe Castaner on Monday, France 24 reports.

In Rennes, police locked their cuffs to the fence outside the prefecture. Interior Minister Christophe Castaner who reacted to protests, banning chokeholds is clueless, “doesn’t even know what he’s talking about.” Police union leader Jean-Paul Megret said according to the Insider. “Every day, you’re dealing with people who are completely insane.”

Head restraint is very important during handcuffing, Leveau insists. . “We’re not going to hold him down for eight minutes, we’re going to hold him down just for the handcuffing,”

“And today we don’t have a substitute technique. So they need to explain to us what we’re supposed to do.” the France 24 report quoted the police chief.
