Defund Police Advocate Sen. Lightford, Chicago and husband carjacked, husband “fires shots” at thugs
Defund the Police advocate, Illinois Senate Majority Leader Kimberly admitted that her husband Eric McKennie, returned shots at carjackers who had carjacked, shot at the Senator and her husband.
The carjacking happened when the couple was in the 2000 block of South 20th Avenue and found themselves boxed in by a Dodge Durango. Before the couple could react, three-armed masked people exited the Durango and ordered Lightford and her husband out of their Mercedes SUV, Lawenforcement Today reported.
The hairstylist, who saw what was happening, ran into a person’s house and yelled for them to call 911.
“I begged them not to shoot my husband, not to shoot me,” Lightford told reporters Thursday morning at a Christmas present giveaway for children in Proviso Township. “They took everything off me that I had of value.”
“They had separated me and my husband,” she said on WGN-TV. “After they got the guns off of us, my husband told me to run. I ran, reluctantly, because I didn’t want to leave him there. And it was a scary run because now shots are being fired. I thought for sure they were going to shoot me.”
After her husband, with a Concealed Carry permit handed over the keys to the carjacker, he fired shots.
Earlier in the week, a Philadelphia representative, also defund the police advocate was highjacked.
Both sang high praises for the police.
“I want to thank everyone who has offered their love and support. I want to especially thank Mayor Katrina Thompson and the Broadview Police Department for their quick and thorough response.” Lightford said.
