Vikings hosting tackle Mike Remmers on free agent visit
As the signing of tackle Riley Reiff is expected to be made official Friday, the Vikings will also be hosting free agent tackle Mike Remmers at Winter Park.
Remmers, the 27-year-old former Panthers starter, has visits set up with the Vikings and Texans, his agent Brett Tessler confirmed to the Star Tribune.
Tackle is a top priority for the Vikings, needing both starters and depth, but the top free agent options quickly signed away Thursday at the onset of free agency. The Vikings came away with Reiff, the ex-Lions left and right tackle. Terms have not yet been made available on Reiff’s deal, but it’s likely the Vikings needed to pony up a big contract.
Remmers, undrafted in 2012 out of Oregon State, could help the Vikings at right tackle, where he has started the past 35 games, including three playoff appearances, in Carolina. He had one previous stint on the Vikings at the end of the 2013 season.
The Vikings will also host ex-Packers running back Eddie Lacy soon. Lacy, 26, also has visits set up with the Seahawks and Packers.
