The TikTok-Viral Biodance Mask Is 30 Percent Off for Prime Day
If you’re chronically online and have even an iota of interest in beauty, you’ve probably heard about the Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask. The Korean hydrogel mask took over TikTok last year and countless people demonstrated going to sleep with it stuck onto their faces and waking up with dewy, glasslike skin. Their large pores became a thing of the past. But you can’t always believe what you see online with all of the filters and lighting tricks in this day and age.
A few of our editors have tried the mask and experienced varying levels of success. It has even earned a permanent spot in some of our routines. For a candid look at the product and our call on whether the viral mask is worth the hype (and your money, even while it’s on sale during Prime Day), keep reading.

What is the Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask?
This mask from K-beauty brand Biodance comes in four varieties: Hydro Cera-nol for hydration, Radiant Vita Niacinamide for brightening, Refreshing Sea Kelp for soothing blemishes, and Bio-Collagen for radiance and pore tightening. The latter is by far the most well-known. Instead of cotton, the masks are made with an opaque hydrogel that adheres well and turns transparent as ingredients like hyaluronic acid and niacinamide absorb into the skin.

What makes it so special?
One of the company’s claims about the mask is that it contains tiny, broken-down collagen that penetrates the skin better than typical collagen molecules. Another thing I like about it is that the top and bottom halves come separately, so you’re able to modify the fit according to the size and shape of your face.
Shopping writer and editor Hanna Flanagan is a die-hard fan and prefers it over the traditional sheet masks she is used to. “The problem with most sheet masks is that the product sits on top of the skin, and if it does absorb, the effects are gone after a few hours,” she says. “But I usually like to wear this one before a big event — for example, my sister’s wedding this past weekend — to make sure my skin looks really supple. You can see the results for the whole day.” She also mentions that because it’s so hydrating, the formula makes her skin both bouncy and smooth, and makeup looks beautiful on top. And you don’t even necessarily have to wear it all night; Flanagan notices her results after just three or four hours.
Do I need the mask?
It depends on whom you ask. I don’t think it’s particularly life-changing, and it didn’t obliterate my pores and turn me into a porcelain doll overnight like social media led me to believe. Cut beauty editor Asia Milia Ware calls the mask “a catfish.” However, if you’re using the mask for hydration and plumping purposes, it certainly does the job with a pleasant user experience and at a price we can swallow. During the winter, when my heater turns my skin into a cracked desert, the mask is a convenient way to protect it. “My other favorite one is a Joanna Vargas one, and that’s $75 for five masks,” says Flanagan. “I would say it’s worth a try.” During Prime Day, you can test it for 30 percent off — might be a fun extra thing to throw in your cart.
