JaNa and Kenny’s Breakup Just Got Messier
Islanders, there’s officially trouble in paradise. On Sunday, one of Love Island USA’s most beloved season-six couples suddenly parted ways, leaving fans to scrounge for hints about what really went down between JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez. A few days after news of their breakup broke, Craig and her PPG allies put up a series of Instagram Stories that have the breakup approaching Scandoval proportions. What the hell happened?
After dating for roughly a year and filming the spinoff Beyond the Villa together, a source told TMZ that Craig broke up with Rodriguez on Sunday morning. The couple had attended influencer David Dobrik’s birthday party the night before, leading to speculation that there was a confrontation of some kind. But on Tuesday, Craig set the record straight, posting a statement to her Instagram Story and confirming that they did break up.

“Please know that I have seen all the breakup theories and none have matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is,” she wrote. “Discovering that someone you loved isn’t who you thought they were and that the relationship you thought you were building hasn’t been genuine since day one has been truly devastating.”
Shortly after, Rodriguez took his own stab at a breakup announcement, writing on his Story that he had “come to the hard truth that the relationship was not something that could last long-term” and wishing his ex the best. Craig reposted his statement and called him a “manipulative liar,” warning, “My first statement was me being nice … Do not piss me off.”

Craig’s sister NaJa chimed in, adding that Rodriguez had the family “fooled.” Another pointed Instagram Story popped up on the profile of one of Craig’s friends, Charmane Smith, who instructed women to search their partners’ phones. “My advice for women in relationships,” she wrote in the since-deleted message. “Go thru your mans phone TODAY. Search keywords like ‘I don’t like black women, I thought I could get more money from this, I’m faking this relationship, going on the show would be for clout, I can’t wait to be done w this so I can fuck hella b*tches……’”

Sure enough, in came the rest of the season-six cavalry: Fellow PPG member Leah Kateb reposted Rodriguez’s statement to her Story. “Put a sock in it ChatGPT headass. Tell the truth for once!” she wrote. “Racist, clout/money hungry and a scammer since DAY 1!!!!” Cast member Liv Walker also addressed Rodriguez on her Story, writing, “I hope this gives you the clout you always wanted you fucking loser,” while Kaylor Martin called him “a poor excuse of a man.” Season-six winner Serena Page warned, “Y’all already know how I’m coming behind JaNa, and TRUST so does he.” Meanwhile, Craig reposted a telling collection of TikToks, including a screenshot of a comment that read, “Another man who saw a radiant Black woman not as a partner but as a ladder.” Another repost featured a photo of Craig with the text, “He smiled in her face but called her racial slurs behind her back.”
So … what exactly did Rodriguez do? Maybe someone will explain it on their Instagram Stories. Alternatively, I bet Craig is poised to get a prime seat on Alex Cooper’s couch, where she can air it all out on her own terms. To echo Kateb’s sentiment: “Our Nay is blessed & highly favored.”
The Cut has reached out to representatives for Craig and Rodriguez, and we will update this post if we hear back.
