Kamala Harris Wrote a Book About the Election
Remember how amazing it felt last summer when the worst possible candidate for president dropped out and was replaced with someone who wasn’t evidently experiencing cognitive decline? Remember how hopeful we all felt when Tim Walz was announced as the vice-presidential nominee? Remember “Kamala is brat”? If looking back at that time doesn’t make you want to let out the longest groan ever produced by a human, Kamala Harris has a book for you.
On Thursday, the former vice-president announced her new book, 107 Days. In a social-media post, Harris described the book, which comes out in September, as “a behind-the-scenes look at my experience leading the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.” I don’t really know why she’s so focused on the brevity of the campaign — perhaps anything else worth pointing out about it isn’t that catchy. I Guess I Should Have Talked About Egg Prices More probably wouldn’t fly off the shelves.
What the world saw on the campaign trail was only part of the story.

My new book is a behind-the-scenes look at my experience leading the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.
107 Days is out on September 23. I can't wait for you to read it: https://t.co/G4bkeZB4NZ pic.twitter.com/taUof0L4hs
“I believe there’s value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward,” Harris said in a video accompanying her announcement. “In writing this book, one truth kept coming back to me: Sometimes the fight takes a while. But I remain full of hope and I remain clear-eyed. I will never stop fighting to make our country reflect the very best of its ideals, always on behalf of the people.”
If that sounds like the soft launch of a Kamala 2028 presidential campaign, that’s because it just might be. On Wednesday, Harris announced that she would not be running in the 2026 California governor’s race, a move she had been weighing for months.
“For now, my leadership — and public service — will not be in elected office,” Harris said in a statement. “I look forward to getting back out and listening to the American people, helping elect Democrats across the nation who will fight fearlessly, and sharing more details in the months ahead about my own plans.”
Step one of that plan? Book tour! If you live in Iowa, South Carolina, or New Hampshire, the former vice-president might soon be at a Barnes & Noble near you. And why not drop by to get a signed copy? Your mother-in-law will never read this book, but she will definitely love receiving it as a gift.
