Alexandra Daddario, Naomi Watts, and More Show Up for Saks in East Hampton
A stylish crowd of celebrities, tastemakers, and fashion people headed out East on Thursday night to celebrate the Saks on Amazon storefront, a curated selection of luxury fashion and beauty items that launched earlier this year. The intimate cocktail hour and seated dinner, hosted by Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, took place at the Hedges Inn in East Hampton and marked the start of a weekend pop-up featuring shopping opportunities and designer-led activations.
“For the first time, we’re bringing Saks on Amazon, with our distinctive luxury edit, to life,” Kristin Maa, the chief marketing officer of Saks Global, said of the event.
Guests trickled in through the gravel parking lot, dressed in flowy maxi dresses, bright colors, and coastal-inspired prints. They walked past a branded pink Branco and a row of wicker-basket-adorned cruisers, with custom Saks on Amazon flags hanging off the back, through the front room of the Victorian-style Inn, which is set up like a boutique for the weekend pop-up, complete with racks of Saks on Amazon finds from brands like La Prairie, Ganni, and Johanna Ortiz.
The cocktail hour was hosted in the world’s dreamiest backyard and featured a gazebo, a fire pit, and a tented bar area with white sofas and a caviar station — everything you want from an evening in the Hamptons! On the patio, guests, including Naomi Watts, Kate Love, Alexandra Daddario, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Evan Ross Katz, Sabrina Elba, Rachel Zoe, and Sai De Silva, took photos in front of white, green, pink, and purple hydrangeas.
Elba told the Cut that she “never wears color anymore” but decided an East Hampton soirée was as good a time as any to break out a breezy, sunset-orange dress by Jason Wu. As for her next purchase from the Saks on Amazon storefront? “I love anything Stella McCartney but especially the Ryder handbags. Those are on my wish list. I also love the [London-based] brand Galvan, since I’m a Londoner now.”
The S’ABLE Labs co-founder resides there with her husband, Idris Elba, but has been all over the map this summer — including Cannes and NYC to Paris and the Hamptons. Her travel essentials include her own lip salve that’s formulated with ingredients like castor oil, marula oil, and prickly pear, as well as eye patches, antibacterial hand wipes, and Chantecaille Future Skin Gel Foundation, which is available on Saks on Amazon alongside other luxury beauty brands like La Prairie, Valmont, and Trudon.
“My first memory of Saks was when I was going apartment shopping with my mom; she was looking at the Estée Lauder products, but I just remember the shoe department. I was amazed by it; that might’ve even been the start of my love of shoes. It’s so nice that Saks is more accessible now that it’s on Amazon,” Sabrina Elba said.
