Are You Ready for Pamela Anderson’s Pickles?
Every celebrity is selling something these days, from face shapewear to cashmere sweaters to skin care. But Pamela Anderson is taking a different approach — the actress has launched a limited-edition line of spicy pickles in collaboration with Flamingo Estate called Pamela’s Pickles. They’re currently priced at $38 a jar.
The recipe hails from Anderson’s family — a “long line of picklers,” she told WWD — and is inspired by Vie, her great-aunt who was “an award-winning pickler and canner, a great cook, and such a joy to be around.” “She was bedazzled from head to toe and danced in the kitchen in high heels while spiking your coffee with Kahlua. She wrote a book, From Pickles to Pearls,” Anderson said. “This is legit!”
Beyond the cucumbers, Anderson’s concoction includes locally sourced dill, mustard, garlic, pink peppercorn, guajillo chile, smoked sea salt, and, strangely enough, rose petals. “I love roses — food grade, of course — and they go into many of my recipes,” Anderson said. “I like a hint of spice and a good texture.” If the rose petals aren’t enough to reel you in, 100 percent of the proceeds from Pamela’s Pickles will benefit the California Wildlife Center, an organization that provides medical care for wild animals.
According to Flamingo Estate’s website, only a couple hundred jars are available for purchase. If they’ve sold out by the time you’re reading this, you can take a crack at making them yourself — the recipe can be found in Anderson’s cookbook, I Love You: Recipes From the Heart. Happy brining!
