Stephen Miller Vows to Target Left-wing Groups Over Kirk’s Murder

After the assassination of the right-wing activist Charlie Kirk last week, many leaders have called for unity and calm. President Trump has not followed that playbook, and on Monday, a key member of his administration vowed to wage a targeted campaign against left-wing organizations across the country that he blamed for Kirk’s assassination.

White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller joined Vice-President J.D. Vance, who was guest-hosting The Charlie Kirk Show in honor of his close friend. During the appearance, Miller recounted his last conversation with Kirk, saying the two of them spoke about the need for an “organized strategy” to pursue the left-wing organizations that are “promoting violence in this country.”

“We are going to channel all of the anger that we have over the organized campaign that led to this assassination to uproot and dismantle these terrorist networks,” Miller said.

He continued, “The organized doxing campaigns, the organized riots, the organized street violence, the organized campaigns of dehumanization, vilification, posting people’s addresses, combining that with messaging that’s designed to trigger, incite violence in the actual organized cells that carry out and facilitate the violence. It is a vast domestic terror movement.”

Though Miller did not detail which specific groups might be targeted and how the administration might go after them, he made it clear that the federal government intended to use as much of its extensive powers as necessary. “With God as my witness, we are going to use every resource we have at the Department of Justice, Homeland Security, and throughout this government to identify, disrupt, dismantle, and destroy these networks and make America safe again for the American people,” Miller said. “It will happen, and we will do it in Charlie’s name.”

Vance signaled support for Miller’s plans. “You have the crazies on the far left who are saying, ‘Oh, Stephen Miller and J.D. Vance, they’re going to go after constitutionally protected speech. No, we’re going to go after the NGO network that foments, facilitates, and engages in violence.”

Miller’s podcast comments appeared to echo Trump, who directly laid the blame for Kirk’s murder at the feet of those on the left before a suspect was even in hand. In a pretaped video message from the Oval Office, Trump cited his own assassination attempt as well as the shooting of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, saying the incidents were the result of “radical left political violence.”

“For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass-murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now,” he said.

On Friday, law-enforcement officials took Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah, into custody after he reportedly confessed to the crime to his father, who then reached out to a family friend who contacted the local authorities. According to Utah governor Spencer Cox, Robinson is not currently cooperating with authorities, and a specific motive has not yet been determined. While Cox has said Robinson had a “leftist ideology,” he did not provide further details, and the suspect was registered as an unaffiliated voter, per the Washington Post.
