Emilie Kiser Has Returned to TikTok
Four months after the death of her 3-year-old son, Trigg, influencer Emilie Kiser returned to TikTok over the weekend. In the video, which went up on Saturday, Kiser begins by showing herself making an iced coffee before sitting down to speak directly to the camera. Wearing a necklace that reads “Trigg,” Kiser says she was “really nervous” to return to TikTok: “I don’t really know if there’s any, like, right way to start this video, but I’m going to do my best. And just first off, I want to say thank you if you’re here.”
Kiser says she wasn’t certain what to expect from her return. “I’m just doing my best every day to figure this out, figure my life out, so I’m just taking it day by day. I’m going to do the same thing with my content,” she says. “Obviously, you guys know that the last few months have been really, really hard, and I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to sit here and act like things are fine and dandy, and I don’t want it to come off that way with me coming back and making content again.”
Kiser says she’d missed connecting with her followers, calling social media “really therapeutic” for her. “I know that might sound silly to a lot of people, but I really do love this community that we have here and I hope that in coming back and sharing a little bit of what I choose to, I can reconnect with you guys and hopefully help anyone who is maybe going through a similar situation,” she says.
In May, Trigg died after drowning in the family’s pool while Kiser’s husband, Brady, was looking after their two sons. Shortly after Trigg’s death, Kiser filed a lawsuit to seal records relating to the incident, including video footage, citing her “ongoing grief and trauma” and “fear of public exploitation,” per People. She briefly returned to social media last month, sharing a statement about the “pain, heartache, and void” of losing her son and saying she takes “full accountability” for his death.
In her TikTok on Saturday, Kiser suggests she may eventually post about her experience with grief. “I’m really just trying to process everything as best as I can, day by day, but there are so many things that I do want to talk about, especially with my platform, and I want to talk to you guys about,” she says. “I’m just not ready right now — I don’t know when I’ll be ready, but if you are going through anything similar, I just want to say that I love you and I’m here for you, and I understand how hard it is.” In the rest of the video, Kiser does one of the house “reset” clips she used to post, showing herself cleaning her home.
