We Asked Chanel Guests: ‘What Would You Do With 30 Extra Minutes?’
Chanel held a dinner last night at the newly opened Chateau Royale restaurant on Thompson Street. Guests including actresses Tessa Thompson and Sarah Pidgeon clinked glasses and ate oysters, but all eyes were on their wrists: specifically, the 18-karat Premiere Galon watch that the brand was celebrating. With time on our minds and the minutes till closing ticking down, we asked guests what they would do if they had 30 more minutes in a day.
“I would take a longer shower. I would also call the people I owe calls to — my sister. I’d try to cook. As it’s getting colder, I want to cook more stews. I’m craving beef stew. That is a lot to do in 30 minutes.” —Sarah Pidgeon
“I would read exclusively for pleasure. I am thinking of getting into romantsy, which is basically fantasy and romance.” —Paloma Elsesser
“I would sleep. It takes me so long to get to sleep, and I love sleep so much. I try to put brown noise on, and I take a Lemme Sleep melatonin. I have a charging stand so my phone’s not near me.” —artist Justine Skye
“I am so distracted now, so I would set aside 30 more minutes to read and consume good art. My bedside table pile is stacked at the moment. I am currently reading Scaffolding, by Lauren Elkin.” —actress Lucy Boynton
“I would eat more, probably Raising Cane’s. I’m addicted. Before I go to sleep, I watch mukbangs of people eating, so it’s the last thing I think about before I go to sleep.” —model Lily Chee
“I would probably cure multiple diseases and write a hit play. But that’s the nature of time. I imagine I would have multiple other careers.” —actress Annabelle Dexter-Jones
“I would steam and iron all of my clothes, starting with my cotton underwear. I love ironing but I never do it because I don’t have 30 extra minutes.” —actress Coco Baudelle
“I used to be a dancer, and I haven’t danced in 25 or 30 years, and this morning I went to a morning dance class. If I could start or end every day with 30 minutes of dancing, I would be such a better human. I express myself through movement, and I have forgotten that part of myself.” —interior designer Athena Calderone
“My days already feel like 29 hours fit into 22 minutes. I would try and get through the top three of my to-do list: find an apartment, which in New York is impossible; launch my video series; and write my fucking book. And that’s been No. 3 for three years.” —editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson
“I would call my mom back.” —stylist Beverly Nguyen
