Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster Went Red-Carpet Official
Almost a year after their hand-holding debut on the Santa Monica pier, Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster finally made their relationship red-carpet official. Which red carpet, exactly? Surely they get invited to every Broadway opening and all of the best New York charity galas, but these two opted to make it personal. They appeared arm in arm at the premiere for Jackman’s new movie, Song Sung Blue, which is a biopic about a Neil Diamond tribute band. Does a more perfect sequence of words exist?
Jackman and Foster looked to be in high spirits on the carpet. They were both beaming, probably a mix of romantic bliss and the anticipation of seeing him sing “Sweet Caroline” on a massive screen. Jackman called the night “glorious” on Instagram and shared a photo that I imagine he had Foster take.
The couple has maintained a low profile over the past few months — perhaps due to Jackman’s ex-wife’s scathing comments earlier this year about her “traumatic journey of betrayal” — but that doesn’t mean that they haven’t been out and about. Back in August, a source told People that the couple were spotted holding hands at a resort in the Berkshires and added that they were “going strong” and had built a “good foundation.” How that source knew both those pieces of information is not my business. Then, in September, they were seen looking remarkably normal while rolling their suitcases through La Guardia airport. That brings us to last week, when the couple posed for a photo backstage at Richard Marx’s Café Carlyle show.
But now they’re red-carpet official, which means that we might be seeing a lot more of them together at their work events. If they’re smart, this might mean that Foster can (literally) lend her voice to promoting Song Sung Blue. If I don’t see a TikTok of them singing “Forever in Blue Jeans” at Marie’s Crisis, what’s the point of all this?
