Congrats to Kelsey Grammer, Dad of 8
Congratulations are in order for Kelsey Grammer, who at the age of 70 has become a father for the eighth time. During Monday’s episode of the Pod Meets World podcast, Grammer sat down with hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong to discuss his memoir Karen: A Brother Remembers, written in honor of his late sister. When it came to discussing family life, Grammer dropped a bombshell in the shape of a tiny bundle of joy: “We just had our fourth one,” he said, referring to his 46-year-old wife Kayte Walsh. “So it just became eight kids.”
“It was like three days ago,” he added. “Christopher, that’s just joined the family.”
That’s a lot of children, so let me break it down for you. The Frasier actor has been married four times, and he has a few children from several of those relationships. He has a 41-year-old daughter, Spencer, with his first wife, Body Chemistry actress Doreen Alderman. He shares 33-year-old daughter Greer with his ex-girlfriend Barrie Buckner. Then there’s dancer Leigh-Anne Csuhany, the only wife he did not have children with (their marriage was annulled a year after it began). And then, of course, there’s Camille Grammer of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, with whom he shares a 23-year-old daughter, Mason, and 20-year-old son, Jude.
And that’s all before we get to his current wife, Walsh, whom he married in 2011 two weeks after his divorce from Camille was finalized. Prior to announcing in June that they were expecting a baby boy, the couple already shared three children — 12-year-old daughter Faith, 10-year-old Gabriel, and 8-year-old James.
Grammer has admitted to having a hard time maintaining relationships with his older children. In May, he told People that he had “neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two,” adding, “I’m trying to make up for a little of it now.” That might be hard with a newborn around, but here’s hoping!
