Ms. Rachel may be best known as one of the most popular YouTubers among the pre-K set, but for the past year and a half, she’s become known for something else: her unflinching advocacy for the children of Gaza. She’s been outspoken about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine, and has featured Rahaf — a Palestinian toddler who lost both of her legs in an Israeli air strike — on her channels.

On Tuesday, Ms. Rachel was honored at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards and used it as another opportunity to show support for Gaza. Prior to the event, she asked Gazan children to create artwork about their lives, and then had the images they made embroidered onto her gown, per Glamour. She carried photos of the children who made each of the designs on the red carpet. According to her stylist, Risa Kostis, the custom embroidery was provided by L.W. Pearl Atelier, and the upcycled custom gown was tailored by Kaitlyn De La Cruz.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Rachel said she was “so honored” to wear the children’s artwork and highlighted the story of one of the young artists, 13-year-old Rana, whom she said lost both of her sisters in air strikes. Her 9-month-old sister, Haya, died in her arms, Ms. Rachel said, and her older sister, Jana, was killed the next month. “I want to end with her words because they’re more important than mine,” Ms. Rachel said. “Rana wanted to say, ‘I want to tell the world that my sisters are not numbers. They are moons. They are like the stars — they shine and sparkle.’”
