Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Daughter Is Making Her ‘Fixer Upper’ Debut
It looks like Chip and Joanna Gaines have passed down their love of open concepts and farmhouse style to their 19-year-old daughter, Ella — she’ll be making her HGTV design debut in the family’s new show Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House. The limited series is exactly what it sounds like: A spin-off of the couple’s home renovation show set in the Colorado mountains instead of their usual Waco, Texas. Exciting!
They’ll be heading north to fix up a 1960s mountain house where they’ll tackle “unique design and construction hurdles that come with high-altitude living,” according to a press release. This house isn’t for a client, though — it’ll become the Gaines’ “timeless family retreat.” Ella will specifically be in charge of designing the small cottage on the property and in the trailer, she says she’s ready to “accept the challenge.” “Colorado has come to be a special place for our family,” Joanna said. “And somewhere in-between ski trips and spring breaks over the last decade, a dream took root to one day carve out a place of our own.” How many barn doors do you think they’ll end up installing?
This isn’t Ella’s first design project. Last fall, her mom let her decorate her freshman year dorm room at Parsons School of Design in New York City all by herself. “She is very into design and she has her own, unique style, so I stepped back and I was like, ‘You show me what…’ and I let her do the whole thing,” Joanna told Today. But has their love of shiplap rubbed off on their Gen Z daughter? While we haven’t seen any images of Ella’s dorm room design project, I have a feeling her style leans more rustic than sorority girl.
The three-episode series will be released on December 9, just in time to get some cozy cabin design inspo before the holidays. It’ll be far more pleasing than paying attention to Donald Trump’s home renovations on the White House, anyway.
