Meghan Markle Is Acting Again
Seven years after her final appearance on Suits, Meghan Markle seems to be getting back into the acting game. The news was first reported by The Sun, which revealed that Markle spent Wednesday on the set of the film Close Personal Friends, a comedy starring Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Henry Golding, and Jack Quaid. Do we think she brought them As Ever jam? Did Larson get one of the candles inspired by Markle’s wedding day? Unfortunately, these are not the questions being answered by on-set insiders.
“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves,” a source told The Sun. “It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set.”
It appears that she did, in fact, enjoy being on set. People later confirmed Markle’s participation in the movie, with a source telling the magazine that though she has only a small role, the vibes were good. “She seemed very relaxed and happy,” the source said. “She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth.”
Now that we know Markle was amazing to be around and everyone loved her, it’s time to start the real work: What is she doing in this movie? I think some clues can be gleaned from the logline. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot centers on “one couple that meets and befriends a celebrity couple while on a trip to Santa Barbara.” Ding ding ding! Who better to put in your movie about Santa Barbara than the Duchess of Montecito herself? It is, frankly, a genius move. TBD on whether Markle is doing a cameo as herself or playing a fictional Santa Barbara woman named Shmeghan Shmarkle. Either way, I will be watching.
