'South Park' lays into Trump, Paramount after striking deal with company
"South Park" targeted President Trump and Paramount Global in its latest episode this week, poking fun at the president for targeting his enemies and at one point depicting him in bed with Satan.
The Wednesday season premiere of the hit animated show, which airs on Comedy Central, showed Trump naked in bed with the devil and making fun of what the show depicted as small genitals.
The episode featured an animated and doctored photo of Trump continuously screaming and threatening to sue other characters for hurting his feelings or defying him.
The show also mocked media conglomerate Paramount over its recent settlement with the president, which came ahead of a planned merger with Skydance that requires the approval of Trump's Federal Communications Commission.
The episode aired just days after the creators of "South Park," Trey Parker and Matt Stone, reached a massive streaming deal with Paramount, valued at more than $1 billion.
In a statement to Variety, the White House blasted the show saying, “The Left’s hypocrisy truly has no end — for years they have come after ‘South Park’ for what they labeled as ‘offense’ content, but suddenly they are praising the show ... Just like the creators of ‘South Park,’ the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”
The White House has in recent days leveled an increasing number of attacks against media companies, movie stars and other Hollywood figures who are critical of the president.
