Watch live: Johnson, Thune give remarks ahead of Senate votes on funding bills
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) will speak with reporters Friday morning as the government shutdown enters its third day.
Their remarks come before the Senate once again takes up dueling stopgap funding proposals that, if passed, would reopen the federal government.
Republicans and Democrats have been pointing fingers over who is to blame for the lapse in funding. At least three Democratic senators have crossed the aisle in favor of the House-passed "clean" continuing resolution, but five more are needed to push the bill across the finish line.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EDT.
