Booker to visit New Hampshire in November
Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) is set to head to New Hampshire next month, stoking speculation he is mulling a 2028 presidential bid.
The state’s Democratic Party Chair Raymond Buckley announced Wednesday that Booker will headline the Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner in Nashua on Nov. 14.
“Senator Booker has been a part of leading the charge of elected officials who have been pushing back against the chaos happening down in Washington, DC. He has shown what it means to be a true leader, stand up to MAGA extremists, and work to protect the very same values that you and I hold dear,” Buckley wrote in an emailed invitation.
Booker, who ran in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, has seen his national profile rise in the second Trump administration. He made headlines earlier this year when he delivered a record-breaking 25-hour speech on the Senate floor, criticizing President Trump’s policies.
The speech broke former Sen. Strom Thurmond’s (S.C.) record for longest speech of 24 hours and 18 minutes. The address was also viewed by many as a blueprint other Democrats could use to hit back against Trump and congressional Republicans.
The New Jersey senator is the latest potential 2028 Democratic contender to travel to an early presidential contest state this year.
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg traveled to Iowa in May, while Maryland Gov. Wes Moore made an appearance in South Carolina and visited the critical swing state of Pennsylvania. Sen. Ruben Gallego (Ariz.) has also made stops in Pennsylvania and Iowa.
