The Professional Footballers’ Association’s team of the year has been announced today, and unsurprisingly the team is dominated by Liverpool and Manchester City players.
The back four consists of Liverpool trio Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk alongside Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte, while Ederson gets in ahead of Alisson Becker in goal.
The midfield contains a surprise inclusion in Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, who is named alongside Bernardo Silva and Fernandinho, while Raheem Sterling and Sadio Mane were named upfront with Sergio Aguero.

There is not a single player from Tottenham, Chelsea or Arsenal included in the eleven.
Apart from the inclusion of Paul Pogba, the exclusion of Son Heung-Min and Eden Hazard will surely be met with surprise.
Spurs Web Opinion:
We at Spurs Web felt that Son was unlucky to miss out on the shortlist for the PFA player of the award. So needless to say his exclusion from the team of the year raises a few eyebrows.
The South Korean has had arguably his best season to date in a Spurs shirt and has certainly helped to fill the void of Harry Kane’s two separate spells on the sidelines with respective ankle issues. Even if the Spurs players do not receive the plaudits from their fellow professionals, they are certainly appreciated by the fans who watch them week in, week out.
