Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board shocked many Spurs fans, and the wider footballing world in fact, when they decided to sack Mauricio Pochettino last month.
The Argentine had endured a woeful start to the new season and Spurs sat in 14th in the Premier League, but Pochettino had spent over five years in North London.
In that time, he took Spurs from a team not even challenging for the Europa League to a Champions League finalist, while also finishing in the top four for four years in a row.
However, within 24 hours of the Argentine being sacked, the talk turned to Jose Mourinho as the Special One signed his contract with the North London club.
Some reports indicated that Tottenham had contacted the manager as many as three weeks before sacking Pochettino (Sky Sports).
Mourinho has now revealed that there have been no surprises since joining, as Levy was very organised and thorough in their first meetings.
He said (Football London): “No, the club didn’t surprise me a lot because before I signed, the couple of meetings I had with Mr. Levy, he was very organised in the way he presented to me the vision of the club and the project and everything in every area. Everything was real. Sometimes you have amazing presentations and the reality was different.
“In this case it was not a surprise. I found the club very very well organised. I just needed some details related to the closed circle of the team to make the club understand the way like to I work and make people adapt to me. But the real structure and great dynamics are there. I’m very, very happy with that. The players everyone knows – good players, young players, very coachable. With some problems, which is normal and I have to try to attack them. Let’s say that. But a pleasure to work with the guys.”
