Tottenham Hotspur fans finally waved goodbye to Christian Eriksen last month as the Great Dane called time on his seven seasons in North London with the Lilywhites.
With his contract into the final six months and no signs of a new agreement, it was Tottenham’s last chance to rake in some kind of fee for the playmaker.
Inter Milan from Serie A came knocking and a deal was agreed, with Eriksen moving late in the January transfer window and Giovani Lo Celso being announced on a permanent deal.
Eriksen experienced his first-ever Milan derby yesterday as Inter took on AC at the San Siro, with Eriksen’s side coming from 2-0 down to win 4-2 on the day.
The Dane came off the bench to feature in the match that may go some way to deciding the Serie A title this season in Italy.
After the match, Eriksen praised his new fan base, while seemingly taking a dig at the atmosphere in the North London Derby.
He said (Gazzetta dello Sport via Football London): “It was a great experience. You don’t get that atmosphere in the Premier League.
“The first half was sad, but winning like that with a comeback was very, very special. Now I can leave the stadium with a huge smile on my face.
“I really feel that many fans are happy I am here. That fires me up, it motivates me, it pushes me in the right direction and helps me to settle in. So far, everything has gone really well.”
