A report from Turkish publication, Fanatik, recently claimed that Tottenham were ready to meet Fenerbahce’s £22 million valuation of striker Vedat Muriqi.
However, a second report from Turkey now suggests that the deal is far from complete, with the Fenerbahce holding firm on a £17.65 million asking price.
The striker has been in impressive form this season, registering fifteen goals and six assists in 28 games in all competitions (transfermarkt).
The Kosovo international, who was linked with a move to Spurs in January (Aksam), has continued his fine form for the Turkish giants after the move failed to materialise.
However, contrary to Fatnik’s report that Spurs were ready to pay Fenerbahce’s asking price to sign the striker this summer, Fotomac (as relayed by Sport Witness) now report that there is still a three-horse race between Tottenham, Lazio, and Napoli.
The report sets the striker’s price at £17.65 million, lower than previous reports, and it is suggested that Fenerbahce won’t budge until their asking price is met.
Spurs Web Opinion
We have lacked a more direct option on the bench since Llorente left last summer and this has ended up costing us. I believe signing a centre forward will be at the top of Mourinho’s priorities this summer and Muriqi fits the bill in terms of what we need. He is terrific at holding the ball up, would come relatively cheap, and one would think he wouldn’t complain too much about playing second fiddle to Kane.
