Former French international Lionel Charbonnier has claimed that Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, is a better player than Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi.
Camavinga first broke into the Rennes side last season and has since established himself as an important part of the Ligue 1 outfit’s midfield.
Tottenham were first mentioned as a possible suitor for the 17-year-old’s signature by Spanish publication Sport back in March, who also credited Liverpool with interest in the teenager.
Football.London reported last month that the Lilywhites could make a move for the midfielder, who is said to be rated at around £43million.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also said to be keen on signing the teenager, according to a report by AS.
When talking about PSG’s interest in Ndidi, Charbonnier suggested that the Ligue 1 champions should go for Camavinga instead of the Leicester player.
Speaking to Foot Radio, the former Auxerre goalkeeper said: “Wilfred Ndidi for PSG, I’m not too much of a fan of the idea.
“For PSG, Camavinga is necessary even if it will he will cost £60m. He has an Ndidi in each leg. He is clearly better.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Camavinga clearly has a lot of potential and has shown fantastic maturity for his age this season but Ndidi has been one of the best midfield pivots in the Premier League for a couple of years now. To suggest that Camavinga is on the same level as the Nigerian international, let alone that he is better, is a stretch, to say the least.
