While there is no confirmation yet on if and when the Premier League season will resume, plans are being discussed to complete the campaign behind closed doors.
Clubs will reportedly be allowed to begin full training three weeks before the restart date to give their players a mini pre-season (Times).
Sky Sports revealed last week that proposals have been drafted to get every player tested twice a week in the event that the league does receive the green light to restart by the Government.
In case the league is to resume, there will be some rule changes that come into play until the end of the season.
BBC Sport reported last month that FIFA could give temporary dispensation for teams to make five substitutions per game instead of three when the season resumes.
Football.London has now confirmed that the International Football Association Board (IFAB) has given the green light for the five substitutions to be allowed.
The report reveals that, although teams will be allowed five changes, they will only have three opportunities to make their substitutions to ensure that the number of stoppages does not increase.
Another substitution will be allowed in games where extra-time is required.
It is also claimed that IFAB has allowed competitions to stop using VAR, although the Premier League isn’t expected to make any changes to the use of the technology until the end of the season.

I can understand why five substitutions are being allowed given that the season is likely going to be completed in a four to five-week span and there is potential for a lot of injuries. However, the rule change gives a massive advantage to teams with better squads over the ones who are reliant on a few key players to win them matches.
