Premier League clubs will have to adhere to new rules when the competition resumes this week, designed to prevent the further spread of coronavirus (Premier League).
The Premier League returns to action today after a three-month postponement as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before the game, players will be made to report any symptoms they may have and clubs will have to complete all relevant checks before departure for the venue.
Although the Premier League insists that any method of transportation to games can be used, clubs must respect social distancing regulations whilst making the journey.
Clubs will also have to impose strict cleaning methods across the stadiums as they disinfect all key points of contact.
Hand sanitiser will be available across the stadium and everyone except players and the members of the coaching staff will have to wear face masks.
The teams’ walkouts at the beginning of the game will be kept in line with the social distancing rules, as will interaction between players after the match.
Five substitutions will now be allowed instead of the standard three and one-minute water breaks in each half will be allowed.
Due to ball assistants not being in use, balls will be placed by the sidelines to allow the game to run as fluently as possible.

The Bundesliga has shown it is possible to get football back on our screens – albeit it not what we are used to, but it is better than nothing.
