Gareth Bale admitted after his Man of the Match performance in Tottenham’s win over Burnley that he has been happy ever since returning to North London in the summer despite suggestions to the contrary.
Bale’s attitude was questioned in light of his struggles over the past few months and there were even reports suggesting that his relationship with Jose Mourinho had become strained.
However, there has been no evidence of that over the last few weeks after the Welshman is showing signs of returning back to his best.
His performance against the Clarets was arguably his best display of the season as the 31-year-old netted a brace and set up Harry Kane’s first-half goal with a pin-point ball over the top.
Jose Mourinho gave full credit to Bale after the game insisting that he has been in constant communication with the winger over managing his fitness so that he can return back to his best.
Bale admitted that it was great to help the team get back to winning ways in the Premier League and insisted that he understands why he was taken off despite being on a hattrick.
He told BBC Match of the Day (as relayed by Goal.com): “The most important thing is we knew we’ve not been on a great run and it was important to get back to winning ways.
“It’s not just about scoring. It’s about our all-round play and helping the team. I’m delighted with the goals and the assist and whatever I can do for the team.
“I’ve been happy all season. In the dressing room I feel comfortable and I’m having fun. I’m happy and I’m sure it’s showing on the pitch.
“I wasn’t upset to be substituted. There are a lot of games to come. It’s important to keep building minutes each game.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is evident from Bale’s body language in training as well as on matchdays that he gets along very well with his Spurs teammates. He certainly seems to be enjoying himself much more than he did at Real Madrid and hopefully that will help him shine on the pitch now that he seems to have recovered his sharpness.
