Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Aston Villa to attempt to sign Dele Alli from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The 24-year-old has arguably experienced the most testing season of his professional career having fallen out of favour with manager Jose Mourinho which saw his first team involvement severely impacted.
Dele’s lack of first team football has also seen the midfielder being overlooked for international duty with England ahead of this summer’s Euros with his prospects of being included in the squad for the tournament looking to be an outside chance.
The former MK Dons man has only started two Premier League matches all season for the North Londoners, with just seven further appearances coming from the substitutes bench (transfermarkt).
Agbonlahor believes that Villa should certainly have Dele on their summer shopping list, especially if he is made available for a fee in the region of £25million.
Football Insider reported last week that Spurs would be prepared to sell Dele for the above-mentioned fee, having previously valued him at £45million in the January transfer window.
The former Villa striker told Football Insider: “100 per cent.
“I just don’t see Spurs letting him go for that amount of money, to be honest.
“He’s still young. Daniel Levy will want more than that.
“If that was the fee, I’d definitely expect Aston Villa to go for him. I think he’d be perfect for Aston Villa in that number 10 role.
“But I don’t see it being that fee. This is Daniel Levy we’re talking about.”
