Declan Rice has admitted that Harry Kane called him to apologise for leaving him hanging when the West Ham man wanted to celebrate a goal with a high five on England duty.
England enjoyed an extremely fruitful international break, winning all three of their World Cup Qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.
Kane was rested for the clash against San Marino but started the other two matches and found the back of the net in both.
The England captain produced a fantastic header to open the scoring against the Albanians while he converted from the spot in the Three Lions’ 2-1 win over the Polish.
During the celebration after Kane’s goal against Albania, some fans picked up on the fact that Rice tried his hardest to get a high-five but all of his teammates seemed to ignore him.

Rice has now revealed that Kane called him to apologise for not spotting him after netting the goal.
When asked about the incident, the Hammers star said in a press conference (via HITC): “It was funny because when we was on the plane about to leave Albania.
“Harry Kane, I don’t think he realised what had happened.
“He has seen the video and he called me and said ‘Dec, sorry mate’. I turned around to him and had a bit of a laugh with him.
“As I turned to the boss (Southgate) before we started (the presser), I have been turned into a meme again.
“I obviously had the one with Mason scaring me, and now I have been left hanging, so I need to improve on that front.”
