Some Tottenham fans on social media have mercilessly savaged Eric Dier after he revealed that he would like his ashes to be scattered at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Dier had a strong start to the season and it seemed as though he was starting to settle into life at centre-back after being moved from midfield.
The England international appeared to have formed a formidable partnership with Toby Alderweireld at the back as Spurs boasted a good defensive record until December and were sitting at the top of the Premier League table.
However, things have gone downhill for the 26-year-old since the turn of the year as a series of unforced errors saw him lose his place in the side.
The former Sporting Lisbon man now has his work cut out to get back into the starting eleven and is also in danger of missing out on the England squad for the Euros in the summer.
Dier was featured in the ‘My London’ segment for The Evening Standard Magazine this week and one of the questions he was asked was where he would like to be buried to which the defender responded that he would have his ashes scattered at Tottenham’s home ground.
Here’s how some Spurs fans on social media reacted to the centre-back’s admission:
So the opposing team can run through him one last time

Spurs Web Opinion
While I have to admit that some of those responses made me chuckle, I find it quite sad that Dier has been trolled so savagely for displaying his passion for Spurs. Even if one might think the 26-year-old is not good enough to play for Tottenham, surely they must appreciate his love for the club.
Players like Moura and Davies, who are model professionals and give their all for the shirt, are often also treated similarly. Unfortunately, that is one of the saddest things about fandom in the social media age.
