Harry Kane has taken to social media to admit that yesterday’s loss in the Carabao Cup final was difficult to take.
Spurs were sweating on Kane’s fitness ahead of the Wembley showdown against Manchester City yesterday after the striker rolled his ankle in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Everton two weeks ago.
It came as a big boost to Ryan Mason’s men when the striker was passed fit for the match and was named in the starting line up.
However, Kane was a passenger for much of the first half as City dominated proceedings and were only prevented from taking the lead owing to some excellent last-ditch defending from Spurs.
The North Londoners gave a much better account of themselves in the second half and Kane was able to get on the ball a lot more but Pep Guardiola’s men still had the better chances.
They eventually found a winner in the 82nd minute through Aymeric Laporte and thus lifted the Carabao Cup for the fourth season in a row at Tottenham’s expense.
Kane’s wait for silverware continues and the defeat on Sunday is only likely to intensify speculation over the striker’s future.
While the 27-year-old admitted his disappointment at the result, he insisted that he and his teammates are focused on finishing the season strongly.
Yesterday was tough to take we gave it our all but came up short. Can just focus on five massive games to go in the league. Brilliant to have had fans back in the stadium. pic.twitter.com/DyhIU7z21r

Spurs Web Opinion
As much as Kane loves Spurs and would be desperate to win a trophy with the club, he would not be human if he did not look at the City players celebrating their fourth straight Carabao Cup win yesterday and wonder ‘what if’. The 27-year-old might look back on his decision to pen a six-year deal with the club in 2018 as the biggest mistake of his career.
