Former Southampton vice-chairman Les Reed believes that Danny Ings’ likely transfer valuation would make him an attractive proposition for Tottenham Hotspur.
The striker is set to enter the final year of his contract at St Mary’s and believes that his contract situation may make him a potential target this summer.
According to The Athletic, the England international has been hesitant to put pen to paper on a new deal since he has been holding out to see whether one of the Premier League’s top teams will make an approach.
The 28-year-old has another productive season with the Saints, having scored thirteen goals in 33 appearances in all competitions (transfermarkt).
Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham has been called into question with Sky Sports previously claiming he has reiterated his desire to leave this summer with Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all interested.
“Danny Ings would be near to the top in terms of accessibility,” Reed told GiveMeSport.
“I think it would be an incredibly attractive proposition for Ings because he’s going into the last year of his contract.
“The fee would be reasonable and I think he’d feature highly on [Tottenham’s] list.”

Ings would be a shrewd signing given his proven record in the Premier League and a cut-price fee should be achievable due to the fact he is out of contract at the end of next summer.
Even if Kane stays, Spurs should still be in the market for Ings to help relieve the goalscoring burden.
