The Evening Standard have claimed that Tottenham are yet to reach an agreement with Nuno Espirito Santo to be their next head coach and are continuing to consider other candidates for the job.
Over the last few days, reports have indicated that Nuno is the favourite to be the next Spurs head coach.
The Portuguese coach, who brought Wolves to the Premier League and led them into Europe, left Molineux Stadium at the end of last season after a disappointing 13th place finish.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has confirmed that the 47-year-old is holding extensive talks with Spurs and that he will be in place at Hotspur Way next week barring a complete turn of events.
However, The Standard have suggested that the deal to bring Nuno to North London is far from done.
The report reveals that Tottenham are continuing to sound out potential targets, with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard said to be one of the options on the club’s radar.
A move for Brighton boss Graham Potter is still said to be on the cards but it is unclear whether the former Swansea boss would be interested in the job.
Spurs Web Opinion
Gerrard has done exceedingly well at Rangers and has demonstrated that he can handle the pressure of managing a big club. However, Scottish football is nowhere near what it was a couple of decades ago. The quality of the league is comparable to League One.
So, appointing Gerrard solely on the back of his work at Ibrox might be quite risky. If we are going to go down the route of appointing a young, English manager, with an attacking philosophy, Potter would be the way to go.
