Dele Alli’s brilliant overhead kick against Wolfsberger AC, has been shortlisted for the UEFA.com Goal of the Season 2020/21 award.
Dele Alli had a campaign to forget last time out, with most of the midfielder’s minutes coming in the Europa League and domestic competitions.
However, the 25-year-old still showed some glimpses of his quality in the final third, not least in the 4-0 win over Wolfsberger in the second leg of the round of 32 stage of the competition.
The midfielder latched on to Matt Doherty’s low cross from the right, set himself with a lovely first touch before producing a spectacular overhead kick into the bottom corner.
That was then followed up with a Carlos Vinicius double and an effort from Gareth Bale that put some gloss on the scoreline.
The Tottenham midfielder will be competing against:
Mehdi Taremi (for Porto versus Chelsea – Champions League), Patrik Schick (for Czech Republic at Scotland – Euro 2020), Kemar Roofe (for Rangers at Standard Liege – Europa League), Florian Wirtz (for Germany versus Netherlands – Under-21 Championship), Lorenzo Insigne (for Italy versus Belgium – Euro 2020), Paul Pogba (for France versus Switzerland – Euro 2020), Sarah Zadrazil (For Bayern Munich at Chelsea – Women’s Champions League), Ferrao (for Barcelona versus Dobovec – Futsal Champions League) and Paulinho (for Braga versus Leicester – Europa League.

Spurs Web Opinion
This season really is make or break for Dele. If he cannot establish himself as a regular in the team under Nuno, then it will be time for fans to accept that Dele is not going to return to his pre-2017 form again.
