According to the latest reports coming out of Italy, Torino have offered rumoured Tottenham target Andrea Belotti a new contract that would make the striker the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
Nuno Espirito Santo is thought to be keen on adding a forward to his squad this summer, with the Portuguese coach allegedly planning on employing a formation with two strikers next season.
Belotti has been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time, with the North Londoners even reportedly seeing an offer of around €50m (£46.3m) for the 27-year-old rejected by Torino last summer.
Fabrizio Romano revealed a couple of weeks ago that the Italian international, who is in the final year of his contract, is no closer to penning a new deal with Torino.
Jose Mourinho’s Roma have also been credited with an interest in snapping up the Torino star this summer.
Torino president Urbano Cairo has now confirmed that the club have made Belotti a new contract offer.
He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Now the player – Cairo declares – is on vacation, when he comes back we will talk to him.
“At the moment let’s leave him alone. We made him a very important offer for our coffers, after which if he doesn’t accept the offer we will evaluate other things.”
According to the information from TuttoMercatoWeb, the new contract offered by Tornio is worth €3.2m per year (£2.7m), which would make Belotti the highest-paid player in the club’s history if he puts pen to paper.
Spurs Web Opinion
I have been a big fan of Belotti for a long time and I believe he fits the bill perfectly for what we need. If he does not pen a new deal with Torino, a deal for the Italian could prove to be much easier to get over the line than a deal for Danny Ings.
