Tottenham and Chelsea played out a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge this evening in the Mind Series, with Spurs set to move on and play Arsenal in the same competition this weekend.
Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:
Pierluigi Gollini – 7 – Made a good few saves, albeit nothing you would expect him to let in. Looked comfortable with the ball at his feet. One of the only bright sparks.
Matt Doherty – 5 – Getting a chance under his old manager. Can’t say he set the game alight out there. A little sloppy on the ball. Much better in the second half, should have got a penalty.
Japhet Tanganga – 4.5 – Looks in need of a good loan spell for me. Shows promise but his decision-making needs work. Stood off Ziyech when he should have shut him down for the opener. Caught a little for the second too. A few good challenges though.
Eric Dier – 5 – Same as Tanganga in that he should have shut Ziyech down. Did block a later Werner shot very well and covered for the marauding Reguilon. A little unlucky with the deflection on the second goal but wasn’t quite tight enough.
Sergio Reguilon – 5 – A constant source of energy on the left. Did some good defensive work but got caught out just as many times, to be honest.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 5 – First game back and it showed a little bit, but he still showed some nice tackling and aggression in the centre of the park. All about minutes for him.
Oliver Skipp – 6 – A difficult game but Skipp was one of the few who showed constant pressure and a willingness to be progressive. Unfortunately, that led to a fair few misplaced passes. Far from the finished article but looked bright.
Dele Alli – 4 – He was in there to be Tottenham’s chief creator from deep and he struggled a lot. Chelsea gave him no time and Spurs struggled to work between the lines. So disappointed with him this evening.
Steven Bergwijn – 5.5 – Didn’t seem to be the same bundle of energy today. Not as much running in behind or high pressing. As a result, he was barely in the game. Nice to see him pop up briefly to get a goal though.
Lucas Moura – 6 – Gave the ball away for the opener when trying to dribble past Kante in the middle of the pitch. Got very lucky with his deflected goal but did well to create it. Then won the ball back to set up Bergwijn’s goal.
Heung-min Son – 5 – Looked like a very frustrated figure up there with no Kane. He had to lead the line but had almost no service, therefore, the game passed him by. Needs to improve his hold up and link up play if he is going to be a consistent striker. Assist for Bergwijn was a high point.
Substitutes:
Harry Winks – 5 – Could have done a bit better for Chelsea’s second against Alonso. Battled hard and tracked back well.
Ben Davies – 5 – Came on and had a shot cleared off the line.
Serge Aurier – N/A
Dane Scarlett – N/A
