Tottenham Hotspur finished their pre-season campaign with a win over Arsenal this afternoon, meaning they come through their warm-up games unbeaten.
Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:
Hugo Lloris – 6.5 – Made one nice stop and everything else was fairly routine for Hugo. Good for him to get minutes before the start of the season though.
Japhet Tanganga – 7.5 – Still don’t think he’s a right-back but he showed some solid one-vs-one defending. He battled so hard and did so well to create/assist that Son goal too! Hopefully, that knock is not serious.
Davinson Sanchez – 8 – Typically, the Colombian puts in one of his best-ever performances. He was pinging the ball around like a prime Toby. Defended very well too.
Eric Dier – 6.5 – Looked pretty solid, defended crosses well and marshalled the back line nicely. Nothing outstanding but a steady performance from Dier. Decent free-kick!
Sergio Reguilon – 8 – Had a few nice moments where he burst forward, but his game suits a centre-forward to cross it to and, well there was no one. Went close once or twice.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7 – A tidy performance back in the heart of midfield. Breaks up play, calms things down and distributes positively and effectively.
Oliver Skipp – 7.5 – Such a great all-around performance from Skippy. He turned over possession time and time again, tracked back well, but also picked balls between the lines.
Dele Alli – 6.5 – I feel like Arsenal figured Dele out early on, just as Chelsea did. They gave him no time and space, which resulted in the midfielder giving the ball away a lot. Some nice runs off the ball and should have scored a couple. Some good some bad today.
Lucas Moura – 7.5 – Always looking to make things happen. No coincidence that Spurs’ best first-half chances for Son and Dele both started with Lucas.
Steven Bergwijn – 6.5 – Started the game well with some nice runs down the right but disappeared a little. A couple of nice flashes in the second half but not at his sharpest yet.
Heung-min Son – 8 – Had a great chance to open the scoring that he should have swept into the far corner. He was a little isolated at times up front. Looked dangerous at times on the break and finally delivered with ten minutes to go with a great finish.
Substitutes:
Giovani Lo Celso – 6.5 – Looked bright on the ball, especially during that trademark run from deep. Helped to create the eventual goal too!
Pierluigi Gollini – 5.5 – Introduced to the home crowd for the first time. Had one nice stop from a Saka chance.
Joe Rodon – 5 – Nice to see him back out there, albeit for a short cameo.
Dane Scarlett – N/A
Harry Winks – N/A
Serge Aurier – N/A
