The Athletic have revealed that some Tottenham players have found new head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo to be distant and uncommunicative outside of training.
The Portuguese manager replaced his fellow countryman Jose Mourinho in the North London hot seat, although their respective hiring and firings were months apart.
Mourinho was sacked by Daniel Levy and co in late April just six days before the League Cup Final, with Ryan Mason put in temporary charge of the first team.
Nuno was then hired 43 days ago and has had over a month to work with his squad, while also playing across five pre-season friendlies, albeit with some senior players absent until recently.
The Athletic claim that Nuno is rather distant outside of training and doesn’t tend to hold one-on-one meetings with players. He is also apparently not one for team meetings and, therefore, does most of his talking on the training pitch.
Even his own staff reportedly know there are right and wrong moments to approach him.
Spurs Web Opinion:
This sounds rather strange. To be honest, I was expecting to see a great man-manager, just like Pochettino when he first took over. However, as long as he gets results, I don’t really care how Nuno goes about his job.
