Some Tottenham fans on social media have been delighted to hear that the club are set to offer Oliver Skipp a new contract.
After returning from an impressive loan spell at Norwich last season, Skipp has been entrusted with an important role in the starting eleven by Nuno Espirito Santo at the start of the new campaign.
Yesterday’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea is the only Premier League game the England Under-21 international has not started so far this year, as Tanguy Ndombele came into the eleven at the youngster’s expense.
The Sun reported on Saturday that Tottenham are set to reward the 21-year-old for his impressive displays by offering him a new deal that runs until 2025.
It was revealed that the new contract would see the youngster’s salary rise from £25,000-a-week to between £35,000 and £40,000.
The reception to the news has been positive from some Spurs fans on social media, who feel Skipp deserves the raise after the way he has started the season.
In fact, a few even suggested that the midfielder deserved more than the £40,000-a-week he is reportedly being offered.
A cheap offer by Spurs I think they can afford to sharpen their pencil a bit £50k plus would be a more respectable offer

Deserved for sure, started every PL and conference league game so far and has slotted into the team well. Definitely worth locking up a longer contract

I love him. He's a pure DM. Nippy & capable of winning it back. Can pick a pass too. Too short a deal imo. https://t.co/tejv8IEt59

Spurs Web Opinion
This is a sensible move by the club as it is important to tie down a young talent like Skipp. I am sure that the midfielder will get another wage increase before too long if he continues developing at the pace he has over the last couple of years.
