Tony Cascarino believes Tottenham could be one of the next clubs to be sold off, following in Newcastle United’s footsteps.
The Magpies were recently taken over by a Saudi-backed consortium in a deal worth £300 million, which brought an end to Mike Ashley’s 14-year reign in Tyneside.
The move, which makes Newcastle the richest owned football club in the world, will surely propel the side’s performance both on and off the field in the long-term.
Former Premier League striker Cascarino believes Tottenham and their North London rivals Arsenal could be next in line to experience a similar outcome with their respective owners.
Spurs are currently owned by billionaire Joe Lewis, while the Gunners are headed by American businessman Stan Kroenke and his family.
Although the background behind Newcastle’s takeover has come under the microscope and has been criticised by some across the football industry, Cascarino still feels both North London clubs will head down a similar path at some point in the future.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I always believe that there are new owners in the waiting room. You know, I think, and I’ve said before, I do think Tottenham will be sold along the way.
“And I wouldn’t be surprised with interest with Arsenal. Major people in the world are looking at football clubs. This is no different to what’s happened in America.”

Newcastle are planning to become one of the most feared teams in England, and most probably Europe, with the amount of spending power at their disposal.
A lot has been spoken about regarding Spurs’ future and a potential sale following the new stadium, but we will have to wait and see if a suitor matches Daniel Levy’s valuation.
